First draft of - Colour Application - See No Evil/Hear No Evil/Speak No Evil

My first draft of the project was ideally to play with Photoshop to work out the best way to manipulate the colours in the picture. I think the most ideal part to change the colour of in all three pictures was the hands. The reason being is they are not reoccurring positions. This will give more energy to the three pictures because the colours are creating a new prospective. The reason I decided to make this a draft and not a final piece of work is because there isn't enough research to validate why I chose the colour. This directly questions Plutchik's theory (see above.) For example do these green hands represent fear or admiration? This is simply a practice.

I found the cultural meaning of colour in the this website -

I like this picture because the features of the hands is neatly, realistically portrayed. The reason I dislike this picture is because the colour green positioned next to the models hand can distract the viewer making them thing it is a food product for example a vegetable. As well green is usually seen  as more of a positive vibe geographically.  In contrast to Plutchik's theory of colours and emotion hear are some other cultural meanings of green.

I dislike this picture because the key features of the hand are not shown. The reason being is I have not experimented with the opacity of this layers. However the colour is perfect which is the reason I have used the colour black on the final See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil coloured version. (To see more research on the colour black look at the previous post "3 Monkeys - Colour Experiment.")

The positive aspect of the picture is the opacity is at the right level which helps show the features of the hand making it more realistic and less computer edited. The colour orange is not suitable for this project. It has more of a positive vibe and doesn't relate to the word EVIL. Culturally the colour orange means..

Conclusion

I learnt from this draft that I can expand on the research for this part of the project by seeing what different colours means in different regions of the world. The three final colours I will chose (check the next post out) will have greater significance to the word EVIL.
