The 'Development of Evolution' project in my opinion, as a whole, was successful. I felt that my Photoshop skills have broadened and improved enabling me to use a wider range of tools in order to create different interpretations of evolution.
A mistake which was made by not instructing the model to make a significant difference between the two last evolution positions. I learned that there are many ways to use Photoshop to enhance images.
I liked this part of my project because I enjoyed distorting images and creating a broader view of the word evolution by changing the stereotypical version of an ape evolving into a man by many different ways. Subtle details like the number of claws, the patterns of how the fur appears to grow were altered to decrease as the ape was evolving.
Other points that I enjoyed and learned from were:
• The contrast of the New York City image to the jungle.
• How colour enhances meanings.
• I learnt how to create contrast by using silhouettes.
The most successful photo composition was probably the city and the jungle version. I can see many ways in which I could explore similar and contrasting elements related to this.
The least successful aspect was trying to render realistic fur I think I'd like to learn more about these techniques and I plan to do tutorials to sharpen my skills in this area.
The way I'm going to further develop my project is by colour correction and manipulation. This will expand upon my colour theory research.
I would like to explore more about the work of the photographer Emmanuel Perez - Duarte (more on him is share in the post called Researched Photographers) gave me inspiration to learn how to make fur more realistic.
